The Defense and internal affairs committee of parliament says it’s discussing the possibility of putting in place an independent inquiry to establish what could have caused the crush of 3 UPDF choppers which were heading to Somalia
Government has already put in place an investigation board headed by Gen Salim Saleh but the committee of parliament insists that it would also be relevant to have their own investigation
The committee vice chairman Simon Mulongo argues that such an investigation would be independent and based on expert opinion
The committee is also looking into a possibility of asking the UN to compensate Uganda for the loss incurred considering that the Choppers heading to a UN mission
Mulongo says this will require scrutiny of the UN operational laws and high level expert advice
