Two of the UPDF soldiers who died in the helicopter crush around Mt. Kenya have finally been named. They are; Captain William Letti, who was the pilot, and Lt Patrick Nahamya, a Co-Pilot.
The two were traveling in a Helicopter Number AF 806, MI 24. The search for the rest of the Crew members of this Chopper, according to the official press lease from the UPDF Spokesperson Lt. Col. Felix Kulayigye, still continues.
Kulayigye, however says that the Crew members of the other 3 Helicopters are alive and well.
They include: Lt Col Chris Kasaija – Pilot Major Charles Okidi – Pilot Capt George Buga – Pilot Capt Samuel Kitenyi – Co-Pilot Capt Asad Magombe – Armament Technician Lt Robert Bakashaba – Co-Pilot Lt Job Osuret – Co-Pilot Lt Everest Sebagenzi – and Flight Engineer Lt John Nyanzi.
Others are Flight Engineer Lt Charles Alemu – Flight Engineer 2nd Lt Gideon Taremwa – Electrician 2nd Lt Asaph Barigye – Technician WOI Ongaria Patrick – Armament Technician WOI Ayesigye Nixon – Armament Technician WOII Nakabanda George and Technician WOII Wamagali Yahaya.
Electrician WOII Kalulu Wilberforce- Medical S/Sgt Komunda John – Electrician S/Sgt Eritu Robert – Armament Technician Sgt Mugwisa Coleb and Medical Pte Muse Mark have also been rescued.
Later in the day, Kenya Defence Forces officials reported that a third body had been discovered at a burnt-out helicopter and that only three remained unaccounted for.
Kulayigye adds that, the UPDF shall continue to keep the country informed of the developments about these patriotic Ugandans.
